If you could compromise between the silly but more personally involving dramatic scenarios of Zafehouse Diaries and State of Decay's strong gameplay foundation, you would probably have what you're looking for.įear and the idea that nowhere is ever truly safe does wonders for a sense of affecting sanity. The problem with the latter is that it may actually turn off players from the game in the first place. The former (decision-making) can be created by binary ethical dilemmas, such as Telltale's Walking Dead series, while the latter can be created by challenging the player's will to play by realistically modeling the lack of stimulating activity in the game (the player is alternatively forced between using up food/water resources fighting zombies, or boredom, which they can overcome by finding books/files to read). *Player-centric sanity the player themselves are faced with emergent events where their actual faith in their decision-making or gameplay is tested.
